Welcome back bun fans! Hope y’all are having a sweet week, and are ready for excitement and some innovative thinking- because I am so excited to share this new treat I have created! This time when I was thinking of a treat to make I started by deciding on the method of cooking I wanted to use. Since I used the oven in last weeks treat, I wanted to switch things up and choose a non-conventional method of cooking. So I crossed off the oven, and did not want to use the microwave either...hmm!! I thought and thought, and then decided to make a healthy, all natural, frozen treat for my bunny, Bauer! I say using the freezer is a non-conventional form of cooking because when I think of “cooking” I automatically think of using heat in order to make something. However, this time I decided to use the freezer to make my parfait-like popsicle bunny treats. J After I decided I wanted to make a frozen treat, I then selected my ingredients, and how I was going to put it all together. This recipe was much more fun and less stressful to make than the last one- because you can be a little more creative (I think at least!). The base ingredient in this weeks bunny treat is mushed banana. And, as this is a layered treat, and I am sure yall’s freezers don’t have a lot of free space either, I decided the easiest way to form the treat is to use a cupcake liner to contain them in (small yet sturdy). So, here are the steps: start off putting a small drop off banana mush (banana with a little water mixed in) in the bottom of the liner. Next, top it off with your bunnies favorite fruit or herb combination chopped up really small! Put it in the freezer for 2 hours to harden, and then give your innovative, yummy, and healthy treat to your bun to enjoy!! I had some fun mixing in other flavors to the banana base to see which ones he liked better. I tried a mix of carrot and banana bases, as well as a couple other fun flavors for my bun. Overall he liked them, but did not LOVE them as he did the parsley tid-bits from last week! Bauer would wait until they were near thawed out before he would really dig in. I think my bunny prefers a crunchy treat. What do your bunnies think of them? Anyone try to make the treats from last week? Let me know your stories!
Oh, and also, my bunny went home with me for the weekend so I could attend Yom Kippur services with my family. There are some super cute photos below of Bauer hanging out with her doggy sisters, a shi-tzu named Daisy, and a yorkie named Stella. Surprisingly, they all are best friends!! J
